What we believe
Physician-led care
Every case is handled by a physician, not by administrators or a call centre, and a registered occupational physician carries final medical responsibility. You reach a doctor directly, without intermediaries, and speak to the same physician throughout.
Reports HR can act on
We deliver structured, clear English reporting that explains what happened, why it matters and what to do next. No ambiguity, no vague recommendations that require interpretation.
Your data, on your system
We recommend you run the absence software yourself, and we help you set it up, so the record stays with you: the house rule we inherit from [de Kunst van Werken]. If you would rather not, it lives on our system instead.

York and Philip is the English-language practice of [de Kunst van Werken] in Amsterdam. Same founder, same standards, same way of working: structured reporting, plain language and a physician at the centre of every case, offered to international companies that work in English.
The name means the art of working. It carries a conviction that there is always an optimal path for an employee, an employer and a case, and that finding it is a craft. Both practices are built on that principle: clarity, precision and a focus on what works.
How we work
Three principles.
Direct access to a physician
Your team reaches a physician directly, without administrative intermediaries. You book a consultation and you speak to a doctor: not a call centre, not a receptionist following a script.
English by default
All consultations, reports and communications are delivered in English. Dutch support is available when needed, but the default is the language your HR team and employees work in every day.
Structured throughout
From first consultation to final report, every step follows a clear process. Deadlines are tracked per case, progress is documented and outcomes are specific rather than general.
